Finalist in The Funny Women Fest video shorts competition!

On Wednesday I screened an episode of Katie-Do at the Funny Women Festival, an amazing festival put on by the sketch team Cake Batter to celebrate strong, hilarious women. The screening was a blast. It was so cool to hear people laughing (and screaming) in real time as they watched!

My category, video shorts, is a competition category and I am so pleased to announce that I’ve been advanced to the final round! The final screening and voting takes place 7-8pm this Saturday December 5th at The Del Close Theater in Hollywood. You can purchase tickets here. The final round is part audience vote, part judging panel so I’d love to see some friendly faces! Hope you can make it!

Not every acting day is a good day

Some of you may know that I was fired from an acting gig when the theater managers found out I was pregnant. I’m very grateful to have been given a platform to tell my story. Please check out my article on the amazing blog, Some Lady Parts. Share it if it speaks to you. Hopefully we are approaching an era where things like this won’t happen to women and this can just be a history lesson.

Booking! Uncle Buck on ABC

I’m so excited to announce that I just booked and shot an episode of the new ABC half-hour comedy Uncle Buck! Based on the John Candy movie, it stars Mike Epps and looks like it’s gonna be a lot of fun. I had a great time shooting! I can’t give out details about my role yet but make sure to subscribe to my mailing list so I can tell you when it airs in early 2016.

So exciting!

Welcome to the new site!

So, how do you like the website redesign? I’m very excited and thankful to ShooFly Design for building it and to Jenn Spain Photography for taking the majority of the featured photographs.

It’s been a busy few weeks! I wrapped up the advanced sight-singing class at SAG-AFTRA. I will be back to repeat it in the future though, probably ad nauseum, because sight-singing is a skill that needs constant attention.

At the end of May, I represented the self-producing set at the Produced-By conference, put on at the Paramount lot by The Producers Guild of America. It’s the second year I’ve attended and once again, it was completely inspiring.

In acting news, I took a little break from comedy to star in the dramatic short film, The Homestead. We have one day left of shooting and I’m looking forward to seeing the finished project!

I’m enjoying the June gloom here in LA and soaking it up before the summer heat and sun chase me indoors. I know, I know! But have you seen me? I’m too pale for the beach!

Work hard. Play hard.

April has been my “Work hard, play hard” month. I did a deep dive on the sitcom pilot I’m writing, had a couple of photo shoots, and worked on an independent pilot with Zing Factory. On this project I acted as a producer, second director, actor, and as you can see, even sound operator!

Sound op, Kate gets caught by camera

In the middle of all that hard (but fun!) work, I took a break to play hard in Kauai! It was dreamy. Breaks are important to renew the muse and I’ve returned refreshed and inspired! Happy Spring!
